the Shack presents ~~
Listen to Lou here
Lou was born in Avalon and moved to the hills of Mullumbimby after her sister passed and she realized life is too short to not follow your dreams.
She has played music forever from four years old, singing Marcia Hines songs into a cigarette lighter to a bunch of drunk English men on a train through her younger years spent playing in pubs all over Sydney.
Lou has toured extensively with a lucky start coming via a new artist's grant offered by Australian roots music icon John Butler. She has released several albums - 'Love Someone' was nominated for an ARIA. Her latest album is Moonshine, recorded live at Bill Chambers' house with herself, Bill and Phillip Chaffer simply sitting in a circle playing her songs: no edits, no overdubs. Lou currently performs mostly with her husband Phil, the banjo player, and sometimes with dear friend double bass player - Rod Coe.
Chris Roodenrys is a singer/ songwriter /Guitarist from South Western Sydney. He has played extensively both within Australia and overseas from the Mean Fiddler in London to the National and Illawarra folk festivals and the Tamworth Country music festival. After a lengthy hiatus he has returned with the powerful forthcoming album ' You can go home now'. He writes highly evocative songs and is a truly fine exponent of the Acoustic Guitar.
The Flat Rock Boys
Born out of jams in the barrel aging basement of their favourite local brew cafe, during breaks from other musical projects (The Crooked Fiddle Band, Two Fat Bastards), the Flat Rock Boys are an old-timey, folky, bluegrassy collaboration between: Mark 'The Crawdad' Stevens - vocals, mountain dulcimer, double bass, Antonio 'Panda' Filando, 'the Django of Mando' - mandolin, double bass, vocals, and Gordon 'Longshanks' Wallace - guitar, vocals, clawhammer banjo
Expect trad and not-so-trad tunes rallying around the high lonesomeness of the mountain dulcimer and bound together by the camaraderie of longtime friends.
